Affiliations

Penzance Sailing Club is affiliated to the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) which means we subscribe to their standards.

The RYA is national authority for sailing and other watersports in the United Kingdom.

RYA Team GBR, Great Britain’s Olympic sailing team, have positioned Britain as the most successful sailing nation in Olympic history and sailing as Britain’s current top-performing Olympic sport.

OnBoard

OnBoard (OB), developed by the RYA, is a programme designed to introduce young people to our sport.

The aim is for half a million young people to be introduced to sailing over the next ten year.

On a local level OB fits perfectly with the aims of our Training Group which over the years has introduced hundreds of people to sailing in West Cornwall.

Penzance Sailing Club is a RYA Training Centre which means we are able to run the following courses:

Sailability

RYA Sailability is a charity that offers people who think they can’t even get on a boat – let alone sail one, the chance to achieve the self reliance that sailing can bring.

Sailing is one of the very few sports in which able-bodied sailors and disabled sailors can participate on equal terms.

On a local level we look to encourage anyone who wishes to take up sailing the chance to experience the exhilaration of being on the water.
