RYA Club of the Year Award

On sunny day in early march, a small team of club members were summoned to the RYA Dinghy Show at Alexandra Palace, London. Our club had been nominated as one of the five national finalists in the RYA Club of the Year Award and we were there to collect this prestigious award.

As one of the five national finalists we were placed as one of the best clubs out of approximate 1300 club affiliated to the RYA.

The award is testament to the massive amount of work that our club members put in every session to make our club so great. We might complain some times but for a small club we often punch well above our weight.

Although our Youth Sailing Programme has gained a great deal of praise this year; winning the club the RYA OnBoard Cornish Club of the Year Award late last year; this award recognised all our activities not just youth sailing.

At the award presentation on the main stage of Dinghy Show RYA boss Rod Carr highlighted our: volunteers, dinghy sailing, cruiser sailing, active Training Group, numerous one off events (Regatta, Opens, PASAB, Nationals…), our work with our community, youth sailing and work with schools.

Well done to everyone from across the club that made this possible. The award is now on display behind the bar in our clubhouse.
