Little Ship Club Round Britain Relay
The leg from Fowey to Falmouth was sailed by Sir Robin Knox Johnston in his famous round-the-world yacht “Suhaili”. The baton was brought to Penzance two weeks ago by Phil Thompson of Falmouth and passed into the safe keeping of Penzance Sailing Club. On Monday, Penzance Sailing Club handed over the baton to Plymouth sailor Malcolm Lewis-Jones in his yacht “ Amber Sea ”. Malcolm and his crew Marie-Louise Neill will take the baton around Land’s End to a rendezvous with the present Sennen Cove lifeboat before sailing on to Padstow and then across the Bristol Channel to Milford Haven. Sailing Club members have donated the proceeds from a recent charity race towards the project. Penlee lifeboat secretary, Eric Taylor handed over the baton to Malcolm and wished “ Amber Sea ” bon-voyage.
